Practical tax advice, without the layers.
A CPA practice built on twenty years in public practice, based in Warrnambool. You deal with me directly from the first phone call to the last lodgement, and nothing gets handed off.
Ring for a chat. It usually answers the question.
Dunell Accounting & Taxation is a CPA Practice
Twelve services. Two of them are most of my work.
Business tax returns with the financial statements to match, and individual returns. The rest is there because small businesses need it and it is easier when one person is across all of it.
Business tax returns
The bulk of my work. Full financial statements and the tax return, done properly and explained in English.
What is involved →Individual tax returns
Straightforward personal returns, including the ones that stopped being straightforward.
What is involved →BAS & GST lodgement
Quarterly or monthly BAS prepared and lodged, with the extra time an agent gets you.
What is involved →Bookkeeping
Ongoing bookkeeping, or a one off clean up of a file that has drifted.
What is involved →Payroll
Payroll processing and STP reporting for small teams.
What is involved →Self-managed super funds
The annual compliance work that keeps a self-managed fund on the right side of the rules.
What is involved →
An Australian Veteran Owned Business.
The practice is owned and run by a veteran, and it is part of the Australian Veteran Owned Business network. If that matters to you, it is here. If it does not, the tax return is the same either way.
“Is it deductible?”
Three things have to be true. You spent the money and were not paid back for it. It is connected to earning your income. You can show a record of it. Get all three and we claim it. That is the whole test, and most of what gets written about deductions is just this with more words around it.
Tom Dunell CPA · Registered tax agent 26254256
I spent twenty years learning how big firms do it.
Then I left, so you would not have to pay for it. There is no account manager here, no layers to go through, and no one learning on your file.
- You deal with the person doing the work, every time.
- You see a draft, with an explanation, before anything is lodged.
- Plain English. If I cannot explain it simply, I will keep trying until I can.
- CPA public practice certificate and registered tax agent 26254256.
Three steps, and no surprises in any of them.
Have a chat
Ring, email, or fill in the form. Fifteen minutes on the phone is usually enough to work out what you need and whether I am the right fit.
Send me what you have
Even if it is a shoebox and a bank statement. I will tell you what is missing rather than guess at it.
I do the work
I prepare the work and send you a draft to look over. Nothing is lodged until you have seen it and understood it.
Based in Warrnambool, working right across the south west.
Most of what I do happens by phone and email, which means where you are matters a lot less than it used to. If you would rather sit down face to face, we can arrange that.
He picks up the phone.
Tom is my accountant and he is incredibly switched on. Open and honest, easy to get hold of, and he actually picks up the phone. That is rare in an industry where you get ushered through reception and passed around.
With Tom you ring, Tom answers, and Tom is the one who knows your file. He is very good at his job, and it has never felt like anything other than a proper one to one relationship.
Not sure whether it is worth a conversation?
Ring and ask. Fifteen minutes is usually enough to tell you what you are dealing with and what happens next.
